Donations for Joey Lucia in his time of need

Update 5/10/23. Joey's been released from the rehabilitation center and continues on his way to, hopefully, a full recovery. He's been posting on FB, so feel free to send him words of encouragement and love. All the messages he receives will exercise that beautiful brain of his. Keep it up Joey! You're doing amazingly well, and all your friends and loved ones are rooting for you.

Updated 5/3/23 - Good morning! I have some wonderful news to share about Joey’s progress. He’s been moved from Baystate Hospital to a rehabilitation center in Ludlow. There, his day-to-day progress is positive. He’s still in a fog, but as each day passes that fog seems to be lifting little by little. Although he has a very long road to recovery, if he keeps fighting the way he is today, we’re hopeful we’ll have our Joey back among us soon. We’d like to thank all of you that have donated to Joey’s fund. As you are probably aware his house is a total loss, as well as all of his life belongings. Between this and the medical bills, Joe’s facing a steep mountain. But with our help, that mountain will become a hill. And we all know Joey has climbed every hill that has been placed in front of him. I’ll keep you posted on any changes, but right now, things are looking brighter for our dear friend Joey.

Update 3/27/23 - Joey remains in the hospital with life-altering injuries. The staff at Baystate are doing everything possible to ensure Joey is kept comfortable during these extremely painful days that lay ahead. At this point, his home is a total loss.

I want to say "thank you" to everyone who has donated to date. Joey will be overwhelmed by the show of support from friends, family, co-workers, and total strangers. It brings me to tears knowing that our community is surrounding Joey to the best of our ability in his dire time of need.

I have raised the goal amount, as everything in Joey's life will have to be replaced, and he will be facing astronomical medical expenses. The one thing that can't be replaced is Joey, and I pray to God that his plan includes sending Joey back to us when he sees fit. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers, as he needs all the positive energy we can muster for Joey.

Good morning. Our friend, Joey Lucia, was involved in a serious accident Saturday morning in Chicopee, MA at 2:30 a.m. A vehicle, traveling at a high rate of speed, crashed into Joey's home, where Joey was asleep on his couch. The vehicle came to a stop inside Joey's living room, on top of him, trapping him underneath. The car then exploded, seriously injuring our dear friend.

His brother, who searched for Joey for several agonizing minutes, was able to pull Joey from the wreckage, only to realize that his beloved brother would be in for the fight of his life. Medical responders arrived quickly and rushed Joey to Baystate Hospital in Springfield, MA with life-threatening injuries. Joey is one of the kindest people I have ever encountered. He's been employed at Teddy Bear Pools for several years, and has many friends there who are praying at this very moment that he pulls through this devastating tragedy. I'm asking you for help for our precious friend, as he has a long, expensive road back to his loved ones.

Any amount would help, no matter how small, and would be greatly appreciated in these dark days ahead for our dear friend Joey. If you are not in a position to donate at this time, I ask that you keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
