Donations for Maka’s Recovery
Donation protected
As many of you probably heard, our beloved brother in law Makali’i Andrade was in a freak tow foiling accident Tuesday evening December 6th. Maka was riding a wave when he wrecked and sustained a serious injury to his neck. Due to the swift actions of his tow partner and nearby teams he was rescued and rushed to the shore. Many people played a part in keeping him alive. Tow team members, bystanders, off duty doctor/medic on scene, lifeguards, firefighters, ambulance medics, ER staff and emergency surgeons.
Emergency surgery went well and his recovery at the hospital is ongoing. He has another surgery scheduled for Monday. He has to keep the trach in his throat for at least three months. That said, his road to recovery still has some unknowns.
Makali’i is a fire captain with Kauai’s Fire Department. He has been serving our community for 25+ years. He has medical coverage but I’m sure the family would be grateful for any help to get through this rough patch.
Much Aloha and appreciation!
Zack & Keiki (Maka’s brother and sister-in-law)
