Menstrual Product Donations During COVID-19
"Menstruation doesn't stop for a pandemic."
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, product shortages are a reality across the globe. Homeless shelters have been hit especially hard, running low on supplies needed to keep running. Those who rely on shelters are incredibly vulnerable during this crisis and are in need of our support.
Period poverty, the lack of access to menstrual products, plagues millions of homeless people, who are often forced to decide between buying products or a meal. They often resort to unsafe substitutes, such as toilet paper, cardboard, newspaper, and rags, which puts them at risk for infection or toxic shock syndrome. Menstrual hygiene is a basic human right, and now more than ever, those who suffer from period poverty need our help.
All donations will go towards providing menstrual products to shelters in this time of urgent need. We appreciate all your help and thank you for making a difference in the lives of many.
Who are we?
The Student Period Movement is a youth-led organization dedicated to supporting menstrual equity and dismantling the stigma of periods. We run menstrual product drives in our local high schools and communities, donating them to shelters. We are also working on reforming period education, campaigning to end the luxury sales taxes on menstrual products, and most of all, starting a conversation.
