Donations for Multiple Dog Attack Victim Andrielle AC

My name is Andrielle Covington (AC). I was mauled on April 3rd of 2024 by 3 pit bulls owned and being bred aggressively by a newly moved in neighbor two doors down from my home.

On this day I was outside with my kids and my dogs in my back yard for a bit after they got out of school. I sent them inside around 3:50 PM and as I watched from the front off to the side of my house, ensuring the kids went in the house through our back door, it happened. When I turned around to go onto my front porch there were two of the pit bulls waiting in attack stance and one in the gate entry, they immediately attacked and I held onto my porch railing for dear life. I had to wait for my kids to make it from the back of the house to the front (a good 5 minutes or so) before they could hear my screams to send my dogs out to save me (that took another 10 mins or so to free me). One of my dogs immediately came out and freed me just enough that I could narrowly escape the third dogs consistent attacks and attempts to attack my face and children through our screen door.

My dog continued to get attacked by the three attacking dogs before the neighbor realized it was his dogs. He and female partner attacked my dog mercilessly with a hammer as their dogs where also attacking her, basically 5 to 1 ratio. I have the entire attack on video. She has healed naturally since then but her trauma is more than fur deep.

The ambulance arrived about 30 minutes later and the officer refused to speak to me in the ambulance meaning I received no police report and animal control did not show even after several calls from my neighbors that witnessed the attack. No one did anything and to this day its like nothing happened except I spent two months fearing leaving my front door and having panic attacks regularly. I don't feel safe outside of my own home anymore especially when those dogs are outside. Its summer and my kids can not ride their bike on the block due to my fear those dogs will get out again and do worse than they did to me.

Seems as though my community/city does not care. They are even still selling the pit bull babies on Facebook which it is illegal in Illinois to breed and sale pit bulls without proper licensing and permits for this reason.

Since that day I have been in and out of hospitals, not able to walk or bare weight on my leg due to the muscles being ripped out and damage to my Achilles tendon. I have had to have surgery for the bites on the bottom of my foot, which made my recovery longer and more painful. I have been forced to make my way to 5th District Police Department, the CPD headquarters on 35th, my Alderman, and even Animal Control all of them leaving me with no answers and me more defeated and little to no help at all. They still have their dogs and the female owner and her kids have harassed me for over a month with witnesses. All of this while I have been unable to work, finish school, and barely able to care for my children especially financially. It take 6-9 months for any help with disability, I need help to keep up with bills and car note and insurance, caring for my children's needs and care, affording medical supplies, and finishing school while I'm recovering. I am still not released by my doctor to work a job. I have been on the verge of a mental breakdown trying to get my life back and on track again as before the attack. I want to move so that myself and my children may feel safe again but that requires income and I am not able to work. With this leading me to ask for your help.

I am asking for any donations and help both financially and even if its not a lot, I am grateful for any help and support. I am extremely embarressed to have to go this route so Thank you for understanding!

My wounds are very deep with a lot of muscle loss and has caused my leg to develop muscle spasms and my ankle is always swelling and in pain now.

These are his dogs he is breeding that attacked me. As you can see the date he tried to sell the pups on the low was a few days after my attack. He is clearly fully aware. Not one apology, NOTHING! But Chicago Police and Animal Control is allowing those dogs to reside and be free on a block full of kids and a school at the end of the corner... I want to be free from this trauma and this location as soon as possible.
