Donations In Memory of our son Andrew Mowle
Donation protected
Our Son Andrew Mowle, spent 4 months at the National Spinal Injury Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, recovering from Spinal Surgery for Cauda Equina Syndrome. During this time we spent many happy hours/days with him in the Horatio’s Garden. The benefits to his well being this facility gave, helped motivate and inspire him to meet the challenges he faced to begin recovery and work towards walking once again, hopefully, in the future.
Unfortunately, only a few weeks after his discharge from Stoke Mandeville, his fight back to full mobility was ended by a blood clot on his lung which cruelly took his life.
Andrew made many friends at Stoke Mandeville who he helped and inspired. So we would like to reflect that love and help support the Horatio’s Garden at Stoke Mandeville Hospital so that others can continue to benefit just like Andrew and we did.
Our whole family will miss him, his Mum Lyn, Bob his other Dad, his partner Amy, his brothers Warren and Aarren, and their partners Sam and Kim, and his nephew Jake
So in celebrating Andrew’s life, we invite donations which if sufficient we hope will enable a bench to be provided in his name and help support the ongoing work there by the charity. We would prefer donations to this wonderful charity, instead of flowers at his celebration.
Horatio’s Garden offers a place to calmly and quietly face the immense challenges resulting from spinal injuries. It provides a thriving community to support patients, their families and friends facing long stays in NHS hospitals as they adjust to, or care for someone with, a life-changing injury. It’s a place that gives people the time and space to figure out a way forward, away from a hospital setting.
