Donations in honour of Toby for Abi Cots
Toby Adam Gomme, our beautiful son, was stillborn on Sunday 2nd May 2021 following no heartbeat on the Saturday before.
Adam and I have set up this page for donations to be made in honour of our son's memory to Abigail's Footsteps, the providers of Abi Cots and baby loss bereavement support. Having the use of an Abi Cot meant we got to have invaluable time with Toby and most importantly we were able to say goodbye when we were ready.
We found out that Abi cots or cuddle/cold cots as they are sometimes called are mainly donated by other bereaved families and were saddened to hear that not every hospital maternity department has one.
To honour our son we are hoping to raise enough money to donate Abi Cots to hospitals in need. Giving other bereaved families the chance to spend precious time with their babies.
Each Abi Cot costs £2500. In just four days we have already raised enough for an Abi Cot to be donated to The Butterfly Bereavement Suite at Kings Mill Hospital in Nottinghamshire.
Each Abi Cot donated has a plaque with the details of the baby's name from the family who donated it.
Abigail’s Footsteps worked closely with The Bond Group to produce the Abi Cot, a specially designed and affordable cooling cot that contains a refrigerated system that allows parents to spend more time with their deceased baby than would otherwise be possible, helping them through the grieving process.
Abigail's Footsteps was launched in 2010 by parents Jo and David Ward following the death of their daughter Abigail who was stillborn at 41 weeks' gestation. Abigail's Footsteps aims to relieve the suffering of parents and their families who suffer bereavement through the death of a baby before or at birth, and to advance the knowledge and expertise of healthcare professionals and others in supporting and dealing with the effects of such a death on the bereaved. Sole UK supplier of the Abi cooling Cot.
Thank you for reading and remember no donation is too small.
