Donations to aid in Nick's Recovery

Funds will be used to help cover the cost of the hospital stay, surgeries, physical therapy (including wheelchair and accessibility needs until he can walk again), and other related costs. Insurance is not expected to cover everything, unfortunately, but we are still thankful for all the care he's getting.

My nephew was involved in a fatal car collision over two weeks ago in Wilmington, NC on Market St. My nephew, Nick was leaving a senior assisted living facility Sunday, June 2nd 2024 after his work shift. His girlfriend was picking him up and they were to return back to their shared apartment.

Another car that was under the influence, cross the center line and hit them head on at 85+MPH, killing his girlfriend instantly. He sustained multiple broken bones in his face, all of his limbs but one, multiple internal bleeding, including a brain bleed. The paramedics, police, and the firefighters that came to his rescue told us that it was a miracle that he was alive.

He has already had countless surgeries to place rods, screws, and metal plates into his arms, leg, and multiple places in his face, as well as an abdominal surgery to fix his internal bleeding that resulted in having to remove part of his intestines.

When he is well enough to be discharged from the hospital, he will have to move in with his mother and be under her care. There is going to be many hospital bills as the other driver who was at fault had died leaving my sister and her son with all of the medical bills. Insurance will only pay so much of the estimated amount; which far exceeds what we put our goal at, but every bit helps and everything is appreciated.

He is a 24 year old talented pianist, always writing his own music and lyrics. Many of his songs and music can be found on many music streaming services under the name: "Pray Destiny". He is great with the elderly and children alike. He is devoted to his faith and is a very polite, respectable young man. We are unsure if he remembers the car crash or if he is aware of his girlfriend. The first few days he was sedated most of the time while surgeries were underway. It is possibly that more surgeries are to follow. With physical therapy he may be able to walk again and much promising hopes that he will once again play piano.

He is still unable to talk but that is due to the tracheotomy that was placed while his facial surgeries were being done. We heard it may be removed in the next coming week or two.

Even if you cannot afford to donate, we still appreciate prayers and sharing of this post. Prayers not just for Nick, but his beautiful girlfriend and her family. Our hearts go out to all of them.
