Donations to support Zig Zag
Donation protected
The Zig Zag Building has been inspiring Glastonbury's creative community for over ten years now. This sanctuary feeds, nourishes, connects, encourages and tends to the creative soul so that it can emerge and flourish in the world.
In the last 18 months, the project has come under threat from a Somerset Council enforcement notice. The notice was appealed and a Public Inquiry was held in April. We await the results. Whatever the outcome, the building needs to be brought up to regulation in order to protect its future as a community space.
Last year we began fundraising and have raised to date £2,088 through GoFundMe. We also held community fundraising events and have received private donations, together totalling £10,000.
This money has been spent on legal fees, as well as specialist planning reports needed for the Inquiry.
This fundraiser is now specifically focused on getting mains electricity installed at Zig Zag. This is necessary for the fire department to sign off the fire alarm, without which we cannot run community events. Although we have functioning solar, there is no leeway on this. Electricity will also help immeasurably to provide power in the winter months.
The national grid company have quoted us £7,349 to install mains electric which includes digging the highway but not the land inside the Zig Zag, which we will need to dig independently.
£8,000 is needed to achieve this goal!!
WE HAVE 85 DAYS FROM JUNE 2ND TO COMMISSION THE WORK!!!
Thank you for all the support you have given, it has genuinely helped keep up our morale through this challenging journey.
Your continued generosity will help to keep Zig Zag alive.
Support Zig Zag, Support the Creative Life.
