Don Bledsoe Fights Leukemia
Donation protected
On November 21 2015, my dad, Don Bledsoe turned 60. Unfortunately, he was feeling under the weather, so he didn't do much to celebrate.
Exactly one week later, on November 28th, he checked into the emergency room when his symptoms became unbearable.
By November 30th, he was diagnosed with Acute Myleoid Leukemia and didn't leave the hospital for a month.
It's safe to say that in their nearly-40-year marriage, my parents have faced an incredible amount of hardship and health problems. But, according to them, there is never cause to complain, because they have many blessings to count and many people are in even tougher situations. They try to deal with adversity as positively as possible. They always emphasize the best way to deal with life's struggles is simply to look on the bright side and know that this, too, shall pass.
I could go into detail about the hurdles, obstacles and trials my parents have faced, but I don't think they would appreciate that. They are intensely private people and don't want others to worry about them or the burdens they may bear. Even the attention gained since my dad's diagnosis makes them a bit uncomfortable, though they have warmed up to the idea of accepting help and support from so many wonderful people.
And now, in an overwhelming and heart-warming gesture, many of Don's co-workers are banding together to host a benefit for him at the Angola, IN Moose Lodge on May 7th. Every dollar raised will go toward helping with the extensive treatment plan and medical bills.
This fund is primarily for those who are unable to attend the benefit, but still want to help. There is no goal to be raised, no desired amount; this is just here if you feel led to donate.
My Dad is one out of millions who suffer from leukemia. If you'd like to support leukemia research, please visit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's website at http://www.lls.org/
From the bottom of our hearts...THANK YOU for your love, compassion, kindness and continued support. Fighting the battle is made easier when an entire army has your back.
God bless.
