Donibristle Primary needs help!

Our wonderful school finds itself in a bit of a pickle! Our amazing fundraising group have been working tirelessly to raise funds to replace our recently condemned and removed trim trail. However, due to increasing costs we have found ourselves with a 50% increase in costs just as we are ready to press the go button. Having raised over £20,000 for this we find our shortfall is £5000 and to be honest we are gutted.
We thought about how important play time is to children – this is where they learn to take risks, negotiate, compromise and be kind. In other words where they grow towards being the people we want to be in charge when we all get old and crumbly!
We have been so fortunate over the 40 years since Donibristle Primary was built to see thousands of children pass through the doors. Over 2000 Primary 7 pupils have said goodbye and our longest standing member of staff has seen 800 of them head off on their adventures.
The planned trim trail is a fantastic structure – it gets progressively harder so that there is challenge for everyone throughout the nine years they are with us. Our nursery children can manage the low balance beams, whilst our oldest children can navigate the rolling logs and monkey bars.
It finishes off our project to maximise our lovely grounds. We have installed slope equipment to make use of the boggy space at the side of school and have put in tumble bars of different heights. We had too many head bumps from children tumbling on the cycle racks which are only 70cms high!
And so we are appealing to everyone who has fond memories of Donibristle, everyone who is looking forward to joining the Donibristle family and everyone who values outdoor play.
We dream big but know the power of the small. Of course, being a primary school, we love our maths! So…….. here goes.
If every child in school right now had £5 -£10 donated in their name we can almost do it!
If every young person that has left in the last 5 years had £5-£10 donated in their name we have done it!
If every adult that had attended Donibristle Primary when they were a child donated £5-£10 it would be mind blowing!
If we add in our family and friends, the world is our oyster!
Help us reach our £5000 target. This will allow us to buy our four most exciting pieces of equipment - £1,140 for the floating steps, £1,200 for the traverse net, £1,295 for the hanging log traverse and £1,210 for the rolling log with hand rope.
Offline donations can be made by contacting the school directly.
Be part of something special – every single pound helps us towards our goal.
Grateful thanks
The children, staff and families of Donibristle Primary.
