Hi my name is Jamie Banks, cousin of Jessica & David Wilkinson.
Donna Kaye was a well loved, 67 year old Nana, mother, sister, aunt and daughter. I'd like to put a very strong emphasis on the title "Nana". Being a Nana was exactly who she was created to be, and it was, by far, her favorite title. She helped raise all 3 of her grandchildren, with joy in her heart. Her loyalty and love to them was unmatched.
Donna had the most infections laughter, the strongest opinions, and love that nurtured every child that walked through the doors of her home. We were just one of many of said children, thirty plus years ago. She loved me as her own. She was passionate about her loved ones, and found comfort in the company of friends and family.
Unfortunately, Donna suffered a series of mini strokes beginning in November of 2021. Thus, leaving her unable live, unassisted. Jessica, David and myself stepped in immediately to try and assist Jess. To no avail, just as she has done numerous times before on this journey; Jessica flipped her life upside down to be with our mother/aunt. I am forever indebted to her.
In the beginning, each stroke was an obstacle Donna would overcome, to some degree. Her humor never left her, even when some of her executive functions declined. David begged Aunt Donna to live, and that's just what she did. She gave him over a year of her most difficult fight, and she fought hard. That's a mother's love and nothing can ever replace her.
As time marched forward, the mini strokes became unstoppable, unbearable and cruel to Donna's once strong body.
Jessica would once again become a full time caregiver for her mother. This time, Jessica would need to establish a work from home business. Which she successfully did. Jessica created a company that would provide a monetary income, a multitude of memories with her family and it has allowed her to be at home caring for her mother and children 24/7.
It is with extreme sadness that I come to you to announce the passing of our Aunt/Mother, Donna Kaye Wilkinson. She was a bright spark in this world and her light and love will be deeply missed. We are heartbroken.
As an already grieving family, we are now left with the painful and expensive process of the aftermath.
In lieu of flowers and condolences, I am asking that donations big or small be made directly to Jessica via zelle or on this platform. Any type of financial support during these difficult times are appreciated. Gift cards for groceries, covering a utility bill, gas cards are also welcome.
Donna touched the lives of so many in our community and it’s our turn to give back to her family in their time of need.
We are raising money to cover the costs of all final expenses, a celebration of life, and a few living expenses so that Jessica can take a week off of baking and be with our family.
Any excess money will be donated to creating a memorial garden for the grandchildren at home, as well as a keepsake of their choosing to hold the cremains of their Nana.
We are grateful for your thoughts, prayers and condolences.. We have heard your requests to reach out if we need anything.
This is our way of reaching you all, at the same time and expressing our immediate needs.
With Gratitude,
Kaysha and Jamie
