Fly Donna to America
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Kassie, and I live in Central Queensland, Australia.
My grandmother Donna, at the age of 78, recently found that she has eight siblings in Idaho, United States of America.
Her mother told her that her father died in the New Guinea War in 1944, and she grew up without ever knowing her father or that he had a family.
In 2006, at 61, my grandmother discussed who her father was with my grandfather. The only details she had were his name and where he was born. My grandfather decided to research him on google and found out he was still alive. My grandmother decided to write to him, letting him know who she was, what she had been told and how to contact her. My grandmother never heard back.
In 2008, my grandfather passed away and in the same year, so did my great-grandfather. Heartbroken by the loss of the love of her life, she couldn't bare to burden her father's family by attempting to make contact again.
In 2022, my aunty completed an Ancestry DNA test and found links to a family in Idaho. My aunty messaged the man hoping for a response and information regarding my great-grandfather. Little did we know that man was one of my grandmother’s brothers.
A skype meeting was scheduled with a few of the siblings, myself, and my grandmother. It was an emotional, heartfelt reunion. One that my grandmother never thought to experience. Her family has welcomed her with open arms, and we are grateful for it.
My grandmother could only dream of going to America to meet her family face-to-face. My grandmother is a good woman and deserves to know and meet her family, and I want to provide as much help as possible to make this happen.
I want to raise funds to fly my grandmother to Idaho to meet the family she never knew she had. I will be assisting my grandmother to Idaho.
This fundraiser will help cover flights, accommodation and travel fees.
Every month, I will complete a different challenge in support of the end goal.
Please help me make this dream become a reality for my beloved grandmother.
