Donna Long- My RSD is BACK
Donation protected
Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD).. This is a debilitating disease that my Mom, Donna Long, has. This disease has been in remission for many years now from an experimental treatment done in the early 2000's. Please follow the link to read her original story which explains more of how she became to be, The Donna Long Story . My mom had to have a knee replacement done just a couple years ago which stems back to how she got the RSD and the injury to her knee that caused it, the risk of the RSD coming back was high but it needed to be done. All went well.. so we thought. Just this past year the knee replacement broke and a new knee was in order. The new knee replacement went well again.. so we thought.. The RSD came BACK and its not going away this time. After talks with her original doctor who treated her the first time with a low dose Ketamine treatment, says it needs to be done again and it is STILL not approved by the FDA. Workmans Comp has already denied the reimbursement and litigation on the recalled/ broken knee prosthetic could take years.
Donna lives alone in a 2 bedroom apartment with her small dog, Tia in Fleetwood. My father passed away a few years ago which forced my mom out of her house and now in to her second apartment since his passing. My sister and I help her as much as we can. She can no longer work and she cannot afford to go through all of this again and being bedridden, which is how bad the RSD was before. My mom volunteered 23.5 years as an EMT with Upper Perkiomen Valley Ambulance and worked for a hand full of other ambulance companies, helping others everyday. The helplessness that she feels is beyond words and she does not like to ask for help.
We are looking to raise the funds needed to get her to Arkansas and pay for the treatment again. Nobody else does the treatment that she needs except for her doctor.
Please, Please.. help my mom get her life back. At 54, she shouldn't have to go through everything that she has already and now this again. With two new grand babies and 4 other grand kids, she wants to be able to enjoy her time with them and the rest of her family.. however long that may be.
