Donna’s Memorial & Household Relief

Hello everyone. I am saddened to inform that our mother, our POWERFUL queen, has went to be with the almighty Jesus yesterday afternoon, June 6, 2023. As many do not know our mother contracted Covid-19 in early November of 2021 and was hospitalized. As a few days went by she did not get any better and had to be placed on a ventilator. Following after, she was diagnosed with ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) and they let us know she would need dialysis 3x a week. She also developed a Stage 4 sacral wound with bone exposure due to the hospital not doing their job.

Our mother eventually underwent a tracheotomy and was sent to a couple long term care facilities, as it was difficult to get her off the ventilator at that time and her insurance only kept her 30-90 days at each of these facilities. However, she was able to get off of the ventilator last summer of 2022. She was the happiest, as she was able to eat real food and finally able to be vocal. Things took a turn in August 2022 when her sacral wound got infected and she developed sepsis and went to the ICU where they had to put her back on the ventilator, unfortunately. Up until now she has not been able to get back off of it.

The LTACH she was at in Atlanta told her they could not keep her any longer due to her insurance and that she needed the next level of care and forced us to send her to a nursing home in a small town called Colquitt, GA (3 hours from Atlanta, 4 hours and a half from Savannah, 5 hours from Florida (where all her children live). Once getting to the nursing home they informed us they would be taking her disability check which is how our mother paid her rent and other bills. So her daughter had to pile that on top of her part of the bills that she maintained at their home (she and our mother lived together after the older 2 moved out). Her daughter has gotten incredibly behind on things as other situations have arose along the way and we have just not been able to get ahead in months and have some sort of relief. We would have to drive twice a week to the nursing home in Colquitt just to keep our mom uplifted and encouraged to keep going and keep being strong, ensuring her she would be home one day, sooner than later.

Our mother did not have life insurance as we did not expect this to happen, we were always hoping and praying for the best everyday. That she would shake this off and recover eventually. Her wishes were to be cremated because she did not want to put any financial strain on us, however, for us to have a proper cremation and memorial service for our mother is nearly $5,000. Our mom was so important to us. We went to her for everything and you could bet she had the answers for everything. She loved us more than life itself and let me tell you when it came to her grandbabies…….I think she loved them more than us lol. We are asking for all the help we can get at this difficult time. We would love to fulfill her wishes since she always gave her last and her life to us. We owe her that.

Please keep us in your prayers!

Thank you all♥️
