Donner’s Surgery
Donation protected
Donner is a 9 month old Doberman puppy that is smart, loving, a great brother, protector and shop dog! He wants to make friends with everyone at work and will even help check you out for your purchase.
This last week Donner was not being his fun playful self. We took him into the emergency vet where he was diagnosed as suffering a tear in his esophagus from eating something and a huge abscess that ran from his esophagus to his kidney. From the looks of the abscess the vets had decided this had been in his body a few months and just continued to grow until it was so large that it had begun to press on his vital organs. Donner received surgery Friday evening that took nearly 3 hours. The surgical team was not able to remove the entire abscess as it had attached to some of his vital organs with mature scar tissue and blood vessels. They did remove over 600 ml of fluid from the abscess. Donner is now finally home and recovering from his surgery but we will have a long road ahead of us and this was a very intensive and extensive procedure. It can take up to 6 weeks for the bones to heal and he has to take it very easy for a few weeks. He will not be hisself and get to play with all of you but he will be waiting for all the play time soon!
Donner brings so much joy to everyone around. His boys Tyler and Hudson would be so lost without their DonnieBoy as he is their 4 legged brother. Donner is a bright light in our family and has brought me out of a dark hole of depression I didn’t know I was in.
So many of you in our lives love Donner Boy like he is yours and he enjoys all his visits from his friends. I know the shop would not be the same without him.
This unfortunately was a big shock to our family and very unexpected. We spend so much of our time and resources into the shop that we give ourselves the bare minimum. It is hard for me to ask for help with such things but we couldn’t let our little boys be without their dog especially a few days before Tyler starts kindergarten.
Thank you all for all the prayers, thoughts, kind words and reshares! We know that Donner could feel the love. We ask that you please continue the love and prayers while he is recovering.
**A special thank you to the surgeon and staff at Animal Emergency and Speciality Center for taking great care of our boy from the last 4 days and getting him on the road to recovery!
