Hi everyone,
My husband, Mark, and I are friends of Donnie and Bianca Blue. As many of you may have heard, Friday night, Donnie was involved in a tragic mass motorcycle accident on Interstate 35W in Fort Worth, which involved 17 riders. He is currently in ICU.
Donnie sustained multiple serious injuries, including:
- A broken ankle and fibula
- Nine broken ribs
- A fractured shoulder
- A punctured lung
- A Flail chest – a severe injury where multiple ribs become detached from the ribcage, causing a part of the chest wall to move in the opposite direction during breathing. This condition makes it extremely difficult to breathe and is considered life-threatening.
Today, Donnie underwent surgery to repair his ankle and fibula. Once discharged, he will require medical equipment, including a hospital bed, as he is currently unable to sit or stand and must remain in a reclined position. He will also need inpatient rehabilitation, indicating a long and challenging recovery ahead.
Although he does have insurance, the deductible alone is $5,500. In addition, Donnie will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. They will need financial support to help meet essential needs over the next month or more because Bianca will be on FMLA without pay to be with him in the hospital and care for him at home.
We are incredibly grateful to God that Donnie is still with us, but the road ahead will be difficult. Any support, prayers, or contributions are deeply appreciated.
