Hello, my name is Jason Blankenship, and I would like to ask for a personal favor for my friend, Donny Weiche.
Anyone who knows Donny will know that he is going to be very upset with me. However, I have been the recipient of this man's generosity in the past, as have many others, so I can’t sit back knowing that his family is facing such overwhelming expenses. If you know and love the Weiche family, this is our chance to step in and fill a need. If you don’t know this family and want to be a blessing to a stranger, this is also your opportunity.
A little backstory. In 2020, during the height of COVID, Donny began to have trouble breathing and went for a COVID/Flu test. What was supposed to be a simple test, turned into a hospital admission, pneumonia, a blood infection, and then surgery. He then spiked a fever and went into respiratory distress, and this resulted in him having six, yes six, bypasses. The recovery wasn't easy, he was fitted with a pacemaker/defibrillator, and left with a heart function of 25%. As you can imagine this has been tough(and expensive), but you wouldn't know it talking to him.
He still works 8-to-10-hour days, when doctors say he should only work four. He is usually winded and completely worn out by lunch, but he pushes on. He has also had to undergo weeks of IV antibiotics fighting to keep his toes, resulting in many more missed weeks of work.
On November 3rd, due to a blood infection, the pacemaker/defibrillator had to be removed as it was at the infection site. It will be reinstalled after the infection is under control.
His heart function is still only 25 percent. No exercise or medication can help him. The left side is his heart is basically dead. He has to have repeated echoes performed and will be put on the heart transplant list. He was told to file for disability, but we all know that he just won’t do that.
Not only is Donny fighting for his family, but he is also pushing through at work to make sure that his employees are able to maintain his business and feed their families. Family members are currently driving him around so that he can keep his business going.
As you might expect, his whole experience certainly wasn't in Donny's plan, but we also know all too well...when plans don't work out, friends step in.
