Help Don Beat Cancer!

Dear Friends,

I have stage four colorectal cancer. As a spiritual and deeply religious man, this is a welcome challenge for me--for through adversity we receive much growth. One of my biggest faults through life is my reluctance to ask others for help. This comes, in part, from my extreme desire to not be a burden to those I love. In my older years, I’ve come to realize that being vulnerable and asking others for help is a natural part of the human condition and part of being in a community of people. And so, I turn to you all—my community—today to ask for help. I need your help to navigate this rocky path of cancer and to help pay for my treatment.

As many of you are aware, in the course of my life, I have at times worked an average of 12-hour days six days a week. I am proud to say, I’ve become the best at what I do professionally.

My work ethic shows in my community involvement as well. Those who know me will testify that I live my life to help others. My obituaries will show I have made a huge impact on human life, largely in the form of helping the youth of our parish grow up with compassion in a tough world. I feel that, through my example, people in my community hold the door open and smile for others more often. At any point I will go out of my way to help others. This is who I am. My impact on human existence needs more time!

I have chosen alternative care for my cancer. Alternative care is not paid for by insurance. But it is the only route I will go. With the recommended conventional treatment, I have only a 15% chance of being alive in five years. As part of that treatment, they want to remove one third of my colon, half of my liver, and all surrounding lymph nodes. I have always thought positive about my body’s ability to heal itself.

The alternative approach I have researched and chosen will clean the cancer out without removing parts of my body that God made in His image. I am confident that the treatment I choose will make me healthier and happier as I am blessed with a new lease on life. I know there are many reading this who love me. And who will willingly and happily help me pursue the path to recovery that I have chosen without imposing any financial burden on themselves. I do not want to ask for money that people will miss. Please help. I am grateful to each of you for your role in my life and for your consideration to help me through this difficult time.
