This fundraiser is set up to support the Richard & Denise Tudor family of Brushton, NY. Their story actually started in 1981, when Rich & Denise first met on a tour bus that Rich was driving. The couple went on to marry in 1987. Medical complications prevented them from having children until 1992, but Denise overcame all odds, and they had their first son, Timothy in 1992. Three years later, Zachary joined the Tudor family. However, due to complications during an epidural, Denise was left paralyzed from the waist down. Once again, she overcame all odds, and walked again, 13 months later. Since then, Denise and Rich have raised their sons in Brushton. While Rich continued to drive long distance tour bus, Denise operated a childcare center in their home. Denise also volunteered at the boys’ school during their school years, and volunteered for AAU Basketball for over 16 years.
In October 2017, tragedy struck once again. Denise was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Subsequently, since then, Denise underwent major surgery, and, started Chemotherapy in January. Her schedule required two weeks of chemo for 8 weeks, and now has moved to once a week for 12 weeks, and later this spring will move to once every 3 weeks for 16 treatments. After chemotherapy is finished, radiation treatment will begin, but it is unknown at this time, how many treatments she will need. Denise has had to give up her childcare for obvious reasons, and have lost that significant income. Additionally, Rich and Denise do not have adequate medical insurance to cover all the costs of treatment, and they are not eligible for Medicaid. Currently, Rich & Denise have a $20,000 bill at Alice Hyde in medical expenses. By the end of the year, they will be $83,000 in medical debt. Rich recently signed an agreement with the hospital to make monthly payments., but this family needs to concentrate on Denise’s health, not on these bills!! Let’s pull our resources together as a community, and help raise funds to relieve the Tudor’s of some of these expenses.
