Don--The Man, The Myth, The Legend

Hi, we're Kaitlyn and Lauren, two of the lucky ones who have been on the receiving end of the Mcginnis’ love for 20+ years. In hopes to make some devastating news a little easier, we decided to start a go-fund-me to help Don cross off a bucket list item while he still feels healthy enough to enjoy it.

In February of this year, Don was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma. He was given a treatment plan, began in April of this year. He started with a Whipple Surgery at the end of April, which caused him to be hospitalized for three weeks due to some post-op complications. Once he was healed from that, he was given the green-light to start Chemo. Unfortunately, the cancer has spread to his liver, and he just got the horrible news that the cancer is no longer curable. It is manageable as long as his body can keep handling the Chemo. Don is a fighter and we are all praying hard that he becomes another success story and is stuck with us for much longer.

We all can agree that to know Don Mcginnis is to love him. He would give the shirt off his back for just about anyone. He has worked two jobs as long as we have known him, making sure his family has never gone without. There is not a single time we can think of where Don has not treated us like his own. That's one of the most special things about a small town--you make the best of friends and gain the best bonus parents along the way.

Recently, Don has been talking about going to Alaska and we are on a mission to get him there in September. This is a trip to cross off the bucket list, a time to not have to worry about money, and a chance for Don and Diane to have a week of "normal" during a time of so many unknowns. A donation, a simple share, or a prayer would be appreciated more than you know.

Please help us in showing Don how much he means to so many of us and how many lives he has truly touched.
