Dorchester Day Parade Fundraiser

It’s true, the time has come, and I can’t believe it either…literally. I moved to Dorchester a long 3 years ago, and instantly fell in love. From the ricotta stuffed gnocchi at Molinari’s, and the chimichangas at Dora’s, to the street cleaning tickets, it’s everything I could’ve imagined. One thing that truly sticks out to me here is a sense of community. The people of Dorchester are so passionate about their work and their neighborhood. I walk to work most mornings, and not a day goes by. I don’t get shouted unsolicited opinions or stared at, but it’s the people like Joanne, our local street cleaner, out here keeping Savin Hill spotless, even on her days off, that I admire most. I’ve gotten to know many people in and around my neighborhood, always saying good morning and asking how my week has been. One of my favorite things is every morning I walk by a group of pre-schoolers and their teachers out on a morning stroll and every morning, in unison, they yell, “Good Morning Ryan!!” It melts my heart. The sense of community around here is admirable; everybody looks out for one another and cares for their homes and local businesses. Throughout covid, I saw first hand, the power of the people, doing whatever they could to give back and support our local businesses throughout Dorchester. For that, a lot of us would literally not be here, myself included. As busy and overcrowded as the streets are, you still have a sense of “home” here. You get a feel of the city without actually being in the heart of downtown, except between the hours of 10am and 7pm on Dorchester Ave; the traffic mimics an inaugural precession like no other. I’ve grown to love the place I live and want to help give back in any way I possibly can. Every year I have been involved in the Boys & Girls Club around Christmas time, helping out various kids to bring a better holiday season to them and their families. Running for the next Honorary Mayor of Dorchester I hope to raise as much money as possible to make the first Dorchester Day Parade in three years a day NEVER to forget, or even remember being at. I want to be able to bring to light all the different cultures, people, workers, and businesses that help make Dorchester what it is. Bringing people together for the common good is my specialty, so let’s RAISE SOME MONEY, and like my Dad always says, “If you wanna be Mayor, be Mayor!”
