Doreen Williams son Erick burned out on 6.17.2020

Greeting, this is Ms. Doreen Williams, the mother of Erick Williams on June 17, 2020, there was a fire in his home. They had only lived in that apartment in Brooklyn for two years. He and his wife along with their five children escaped  with their lives, with only the clothes on their backs and no shoes on their feet. Everything else was destroyed by fire, smoke and water.  Thank God they all survived. This incident devastated our family and the community.

Mr. Erick Williams is the first black PTA President  at P.S. 297 in Brooklyn. He gives out food from the pantry to the community. He made sure the children from the school had tablets to do their school work during the Corona Virus. When he first started, he spent his own money to make sure that the PTA Store was stocked up with potato chips, candy and juice. He made sure that the children who had no money still received what they wanted from his own pocket.

During the holidays, he made sure there were decorations and items sold to reflect the holiday for the children. For the first time in the schools' history, Mr. Williams put his all into giving the children a terrific Halloween Party in the gym, with the help of the principle and others. The community saw the work he was doing and began to donate whatever they could, including their time. It really does not matter that he has two sons that attend the same school. For the first time, because it was his call, he allowed the parents to choose if they wanted to appear in the Annual Photo with their children in a separate photo, which they loved.

Mr. Williams took the Debate Team on the train to a competition, because the school did not have a bus. This team came in 2nd place and received metals.  As you can see,  Mr. Williams is a good example of what the children, the school and the community needs. As the family remains strong and positive, we would appreciate it, if you could donate to such a fine family in their time of need. Thank you and be safe as we endure this double crisis The Corona Virus and The Black Lives Matter Protest.
