Doreen’s Legal Support Fund

My name is Doreen. I am currently being persecuted by the federal government. They are trying to incarcerate me and take my house.

My family and I are launching this urgent fundraiser to secure the financial support needed to continue fighting the legal battle to save my home and prevent my incarceration. This financial support will cover the remaining necessary but substantial costs associated with mounting a robust legal defense. These costs are far beyond my means and I have exhausted my personal resources. Legal fees, court expenses, expert witnesses, and other related costs quickly add up, creating a significant financial burden. That's why I am humbly reaching out to you and our community for support.

The criminal legal system contributes to the overrepresentation and differential treatment of Black women in prosecution and sentencing. Black women face socioeconomic disadvantages including low wages and lack of access to financial resources that make it challenging to hire private attorneys and ensure quality legal representation. Black women are subjected to harsher sentencing in a system that consistently fails to consider the unique circumstances as and challenges Black women face. Ignoring the real impact of possible experiences with intimate partner violence, poverty, or trauma almost always results in increasingly punitive responses.

The funds raised through this page will cover my outstanding attorneys fees and future bills from the upcoming court appearances.
