In case you forgot, here is Dorian’s story:
Baltimore is a city plagued with negativity; stories which end in devastating terms, and whose characters often are used as negative examples.
Fortunately, there are also stories like Dorian Bostic’s.
Dorian (we call him The Educated Boxer) is a young man who grew up in Baltimore. He was adopted, and was raised in East Baltimore. He took to boxing as a means to stay out of trouble. After a while it became apparent that, while his friends began to get arrested and spent time behind bars, Dorian was excelling at what most consider the toughest sport around.
Boxing took him to college, and at Coppin State he finished his Bachelors degree in Urban Studies, and won the Boxing Collegiate Championship.
He then went on to University of Baltimore, where he completed his Masters Degree in Human Service Administration; all while adding wins to his amateur record.
He is now working in his PhD, working two jobs, all while about to have his first professional fight.
When folks in Maryland keep focusing on the thugs, drug dealers, on those who break windows while cleaning car windows, and those violent kids who work in gangs, I think that you have an amazing opportunity to help an incredible story of optimism; of opportunity and of a role model for kids in this town.
In order to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional boxer, Dorian needs funding.
Please help him.
