Dorina Goetz Colon Cancer Treatment Help

Dorina Goetz is a loving wife and mother who finds her joy and passion in pouring herself into her family. She is a stay at home mom who not only dedicates her time to taking care of her own children but numerous foster children. She has also spent the last several years a CASA (court appointed special advocate) volunteer. In this role she has had the privilege of advocating on behalf of foster children’s physical, educational, medical, emotional and social needs.

Unfortunately, in the beginning of 2021 Dorina received a devastating diagnosis of stage 3 colorectal cancer. At her young age, and with no family history, this obviously came as a huge shock. She bravely battled this disease starting with surgery, then followed with an aggressive chemotherapy regimen. She has endured 19 chemotherapy treatments since diagnosis and has handled them all with grace and trust in Jesus. All of this has been juggled while raising their two girls, Micah-Grace (10) and Olivia (6), numerous foster children

(including an infant they’ve had for almost a year) and Westin working full time.

After Dorina’s 19th round of chemotherapy in the Spring of this year, her doctor advised to stop treatment for the time being as her body needed a well deserved break, and the PET scan was showing no evidence of disease. The reprieve from this battle was short lived as she received news in September through routine labs that her tumor markers were extremely high—pointing to cancer, again.

After multiple tests and imaging, she has found out that the cancer is now stage 4. The cancer has spread to her peritoneum which is a membrane that lines your abdominal cavity, essentially covering your internal organs. The treatment plan at this point is to extend Dorina’s life as long as possible. She is not a candidate for surgery as the cancer is spread to areas that cannot be operated on. She will be embarking now on another chemotherapy journey. This will entail 5 hours every week at her treatment center, while still trying to keep everything running smoothly at home.

This journey has been hard on so many levels. But the funds raised here will give provision for the Goetz family to invest all the time they need to in order to support Dorina. With Westin taking time off work, childcare arrangements, medical expenses—our hope is that we can make the burden as light as possible for this family.

The Goetz family is so thankful for all of the love, prayers and support they have already received on this journey so far. We serve a great God who is capable of anything, and we hold onto His promises through this next chapter.
