Dorothy Day Hospitality House

The Carbon County Dorothy Day House has a unique opportunity to expand our community into a large, very well built and maintained, Catholic school. The school has a rectory house attached to it where Catholic Workers will live and serve the community of Lansford, PA. The rectory has 3 bathrooms, a library, and potentially 8 bedrooms. We will turn part of the school into rooms for transitional housing and a retreat center for travellers from other peace and justice communities, and volunteers. The rest of the school will be turned into the Dorothy Day Community Enrichment Center.

We hope to alleviate people's longing for community by giving them a safe space that will be an artistic, spiritual, and educational outlet. We'll have a computer lab, art room, chapel, family exercise and meditation room, science lab, library, music studio, and greenhouse. We have the cooperation and support of a lot of great local businesses and volunteers that will help us sustain this new Catholic Worker.

We currently have a total of $25,000 towards the purchase of this building. We need $50,000 more!
