PLEASE HELP ME GET TO THE DOROTHY DAY CONFERENCE NEXT MONTH IN FORT WAYNE, INDIANA!
Servant of God DOROTHY DAY is known as the founder of the Catholic Worker Movement. Her life was spent in service to others through the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy, and she risked much to speak truth to power as she put her own body on the line to oppose war, poverty and racial injustice.
This conference will explore Dorothy Day’s life, legacy and contemporary significance for the Church. Paper and session proposals are welcomed from academics and others familiar with the work of Dorothy Day.
I have been an activist for social justice all my life. I've worked in movements for peace, labor rights and racial justice. I've recently completed my RCIA and was received into full communion with the Catholic Church on Holy Saturday this year at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in New Orleans. I've also been living at the New Orleans Catholic Worker House for a few months and have decided to join the Movement.
Attending this conference will be an amazing educational opportunity and will help in my process of prayerfully discerning my future vocation, determining exactly what God wants me to do with the rest of my life.
But alas, I'm dead broke. I need to raise enough funds for travel, housing, food, and the conference registration. Your assistance in raising the money so I may attend will make it all possible. Thanks in advance!
In the Spirit of Justice and Peace,
Brian Wiles
