Total Hip Replacement Surgery for Marcy

Marcy was diagnosed with hip dysplasia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_dysplasia in November of 2023 when she was not yet one-year old. She was limping drastically and could not stand up from lying down without struggle, often taking more than one attempt. Marcy's vet has been treating her with a monthly injection called Librella https://www.librelavetteam.com, and a carefully monitored NSAID pain-killer called Carprofen https://www.drugs.com/pro/carprofen.html, along with joint supplements and fish oil.

Until recently she has seemed mostly pain-free. But in the past couple of months, Marcy started once again limping and having difficulty getting up from lying down.

After consultation with four separate surgeons, two in NYC and two in Asheville, NC the consensus is that she needs a total hip replacement on both left and right sides.

The cost of surgery is predicted to be a maximum of $7000 per hip. Marcy is insured with Healthy Paws pet insurance, but since her diagnosis came before she turned one year old, it is considered a pre-existing condition and no related medical interventions will be covered.
