Double Lung Transplant & Recovery
Donation protected
For the past 4 years my dad has been battling pulmonary fibrosis. This horrible disease causes your lung tissue to become damaged and scarred. The survival rate from diagnosis is 3 to 5 years and the only known cure is a double lung Transplant. On August 2 my dad was accepted into the Toronto General Hospital Lung Transplant program. On August 4th at 11:00 pm we were notified they had lungs for him. He received this special gift of life on August 5th. Costs for surgery are paid for through OHIP. Additional costs for the minimum of three months that a transplant patient neefs to live in Toronto until cleared to go home and the anti rejection drugs they must take for life are not covered. Anything would help.
