On Sunday, May 2, in the early morning hours, the unimaginable happened. A fire started at Dala Stables barn. The home of Double SS Pleasure Horses. Sarah Krygeris and her amazing barn family lost 16 beloved horses and countless personal possessions. The sorrow and loss has been devastating and overwhelming. It is so hard to understand and to fathom such tragedy.
The 16 horses were not only her boarders beloved animals, but many were lesson horses. The ones that were not lesson horses, were show horses. Our barn family is a team and is not willing to give up ! We want our children to still ride and learn and show. We don't want to go anywhere else. I know the insurance should help with rebuilding the structure, but Sarah will need help rebuilding her collection of tack (everything from saddles, bridles, whips, leads all the way down to even a brush.)
This was not just a barn, this was a place we all needed in one way or another. A barn family is like no other.
Here is a message Sarah sent out the day after:
There are no words that I can say to express how sorry I am to all my clients, friends and families for our great loss yesterday. I loved each one of your babies like they were my own. I will forever miss each horse that we lost yesterday in our tragic barn fire. I am not sure where to even begin. I want to thank each and everyone of your for your support over the years. You entrusted your beloved horses to me and believed in me.
I want to thank Mike and Karen Schultz for making my dream come true of having my own place and entrusting your beautiful facility to me.
This is a huge loss for so many.
I also want to say thank you to Vinland, Winneconne, Oshkosh, and Winchester fire departments for putting out the fire. (Sorry if I missed anyone). We appreciate your hard work.
Thank you everyone who has reached out, your kind words and actions me the world to us.
From the ashes we will rise again.....
So many people have reached out asking how they can help, that is why I decided to start this page for Sarah. She truly deserves all the help she can get.
Donations of any size are deeply appreciated. If you would like to donate actual tack items, please drop them off at : 3290 Old Orchard Ln., Oshkosh WI 54902.
If you are not in a position to give, please share our story. Thank you for your words of encouragement and understanding as we process this devastating loss. We could not make it through without you!
