Double TPLO Surgery for Remi
Donation protected
Remi is a corgi/heeler mix who joined our family December of 2021 after her owner reached out to me and asked if we could adopt her.
At a year and a half old - she made a great addition to our home. She is amazing with our children, best friends with her dog-sister Keva, and loves to try to play with our two cats (even if they don't always return the sentiment).
A few weekends ago, Remi was playing with Keva and the kids in the yard when she hurt herself. It was clear there was a problem with her knee and, when we took her in to the vet, they confirmed our fear. Remi had quite possibly torn her cranial cruciate ligament (CCL).
After a few weeks of anti-inflammatories and limiting activity, Remi went back to the vet for a more thorough and sedated exam. The visit revealed that the CCL in one knee seems to be completely torn AND the CCL in her other knee is also torn.
She has to have surgery on BOTH back legs.
The surgery she needs is a bilateral tibial plateau levelling osteotomy or TPLO.
Despite this not being an optimal time for us to financially be able to afford the surgery - we didn't want her to have to hobble around in pain. We scheduled the surgery for June 13th (11 days after her 3rd birthday) at Sun Valley Animal Center.
Double TPLO surgery has a recovery time of about 12 weeks and a price tag of around $6500. The first few weeks require us to confine her and really limit movement (obviously).
Anything you can contribute will help us pay for this surgery and hopefully some nice chew toys so our sweet girl can get on the path to recovery. Thank you so very much. We truly appreciate any contributions.
