Doug and others fighting Acute Myloid Leukemia

Hello, my name is Charlotte and this page is in memory of my brave and stoic partner, Doug Walker.

I am setting this go fund me page with his friend and colleague Rob Lawrence who is planning a cycle event of 200 kilometres from Falmouth to Taunton to help raise money for our cause.

Our family are asking for no flowers at his memorial, and would prefer donations where we hope to raise money for Leukemia charities and bodies of medical research that aim to give people with Dougs poor genetics a better prognosis in the future. All Doug wanted to do and did was help people, we hope you can help us honour him.

In early May 2023 our Doug was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia. He had his whole life ahead of him with me and our two beautiful sons. His type of AML was extremely aggressive, and so was the treatment we hoped would cure him. He had a rare set of mutations which meant that Doug was really up against it from the start. After the bravest fight you could possibly imagine, Doug couldn't fight anymore and he passed away peacefully surrounded by his family last month, August 2023. This was just 3 months after his diagnosis. Our world has been shattered, how can this have happen? Our family feel we must try and do what we can to ensure this kind of tragedy happens less and less.
