Doug Bassett Memorial
To the wonderful community of Cypress, Bridgeland, Wells Elementary and beyond:
Tragedy has struck our community. Doug Bassett, a beloved father & husband, son & brother was involved in a horrific car accident this weekend. Sunday afternoon around 5pm Doug was driving home from running errands. A truck and motorcycle were racing through the intersection of Fry and Miramesa and struck Doug while he was taking a protected turn. The brown truck pinned Doug's truck against a light signal pole. The motorcycle fled the scene.
Doug was life flighted to Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center where he will underwent emergency brain surgery and still remains in a coma and unresponsive. The brain trauma endured in the accident along with multiple other injuries were extensive. According to the amazing medical team coordinating Doug’s care, the injuries he sustained have left Doug neurologically and physically devastated beyond recovery. Any possibility for Doug to return to even a fraction of his former self again are non-existent. Doug will take part in the Life Gift Organ Donation Program and families across the nation will be able to carry a lifesaving piece of him as we will always carry a piece of him in our hearts. I know that so many of us are looking for ways to support The Bassett Family: Doug, Monica & 7 yr old Dylan. Please consider helping his loved ones as they navigate through this tragedy and move forward in life without him. All donations will go directly to Monica Bassett to cover hospital costs, memorial services and future expenses.
