Doug Carlson's cancer treatment

I met Doug many years back while working as the freshwater editor for Western Outdoor News. We fished together a mere handful of times, but I've never crossed paths with a more genuine and kindhearted man. Doug and I became instant friends, as I imagine happens with most who meet the man. He is as selfless as they come, and truly a model human being.

When we fished together the first time, I knew he was sick, but, as has been the case since Doug was diagnosed, his spirits remained high... higher than even those I know who are blessed with good health. In other words, unless Doug informed you of his battle, you wouldn't have a clue.

Doug has continued his fight for the past few years, but it's reached a critical point. The cancer has spread and doctors have informed him that one of the only treatment options left are a series of four PRRT injections. In other words, hope remains, but it also comes at a price. The shots are $10,000 each, and while Doug has thus far managed to scrape together enough funds to pay for the first two treatments (even being forced to sell his bass boat), he needs our help, the help of the angling and bass fishing community, to come to his aid for the remaining two shots.

I told him I would do what I could, and thus, the existence of this GoFundMe page. Share it with your fellow anglers and bass fishermen, share it with your family and friends. Share it with anyone you feel may be inclined to help out a man who has helped so many others, even in his own darkest hours.
