Douglas Carroll Grigsby III Memorial Fund

Douglas Carroll Grigsby III  is just a big lovable teddy bear and has a genuine care and concern for his friends and family. He is also known as an incredible bass player, Multi-Instrumentalist & Producer for many well known artist all over the world, namely Teena Marie. But, even more so than that, Doug is truly loved by people all over the world just by his humble spirit and generosity.

On Sunday, September 13th, 2020, Doug woke up with an extremely bad headache. He prayed for God to take away the pain, and I tried my best to help him feel better with pain medicine, scalp massage, breakfast, and was preparing to have him go back to bed with the lights off and his eyes covered. It wasn't long after that he became nauseous and then  unresponsive. I checked his vitals and his blood pressure was higher than I have ever seen in my life. 241/163. I called 911, and just knew in my gut that he was having a stroke. And I knew it was really bad. After arriving at the hospital, the doctor confirmed my worst nightmare was true, that Doug  had a massive hemorrhagic stroke , and he needed to be life lifted via helicopter to another hospital that specialized in caring for patients that had massive strokes.

As of Wednesday, February 17th, 2021,  after a long hard fight, sadly our Doug passed away. 

Although we didn't want to have to resort to a GoFundMe page, the cost of everything (especially the unexpected bills) is very overwhelming. I'm humbly asking for your help in any way you can so that we can lay Doug to rest properly and send him off in a special and memorable way as he truly deserves. 

Even though Doug is well known in the music community, mostly as Teena Marie's bass player and musical director, he is loved a million times more by those that truly know him. I never realized until this happened just how much love there is for Doug. It is amazing!! It is incredible! It is a HUGE BLESSING! I have always been proud of my husband, but I'm even more proud of him. He truly has touched a lot of lives! We will forever miss him. 

I love you my husband!!!! We may not have had long here on earth, but I know we have forever!!
