Doug Harris Stroke Rehabilitation

Donation protected
These photos are of Doug Harris, father to Marilyn and Andy, Emily and Carter, brother to Cary and Jan, son to Delores, uncle of Stan and Kalcy, Evan and Larissa, Megan, Tymri, and Kenna, and happy grandfather to 4-year-old Bridger Douglas.
During the early hours of April 18th, unbeknownst to his family and friends, Doug had a severe stroke and fell in his home, where he lived alone. Unable to get to his phone, he was not discovered until nearly two days later. Consequently, he has spent the last month in the hospital and is presently in a rehab hospital here in Billings. The entire left side of his body had been affected, including a traumatic brain injury. He is doing amazingly well, considering and the prognosis is good. He hopes to eventually be able to live independently and return to most of the activities that he enjoys. The downside of this and the reason for making this difficult post is that health insurance has very nearly run out for him, limiting his access to the rehabilitation/ recovery he requires. Estimates for additional in-house and potential intensive rehab are overwhelming and costly. Clearly, there is a vast disparity in what insurance will cover and what we, as his family, can provide out-of-pocket. It is very humbling for us to make this plea, and Doug is humbled beyond words, frankly, not really wanting to resort to this. Our love for him is our motivation, despite the pride that has delayed this inevitable moment and request for help in his healing journey.
Many of you have been expressing the desire to help. The girls have spent hours at his bedside and even more doing leg work to see what kind of resources are available. They feel they have exhausted all options for financial assistance with medical costs. It is clear that his prospects of returning to his vocation are not an option, therefore making his financial situation uncertain.
Above all, we ask for your prayers if you are inclined to do so. This is a day at a time situation that is constantly evolving, thankfully in a positive direction for Doug physically and mentally. Despite all that has happened, he has remained positive and patient throughout the lengthy healing process. We are so blessed to still have his witty humor and sassy responses to lighten up our lives each day.
Details aside, we know that Doug is loved by many of you, or you simply love one of us. We are very appreciative of that reality, as he is. A donation account has been opened in his name at Wells Fargo Bank. Just go to any Wells Fargo and ask to donate to the Doug Harris account that was opened by Emily and Marilyn Harris. You may also donate through this gofundme and/ or write words of healing and encouragement to Doug and his core support system.
Thank you so much for considering this need and caring so deeply for Doug.
In love and friendship,
His family.
