Doug Moore Fundraiser
Doug Moore is a long-standing member of the Huntsville Cave Rescue Unit. He’s an enthusiastic volunteer, assisting with training events and acquiring supplies for fundraisers. He always has a joke and a smile for everyone he meets. The organization he volunteers with--the Huntsville Cave Rescue Unit (HCRU), based in Huntsville, Alabama--is an entirely volunteer organization specializing in cave, cliff, high-angle, and rough terrain search and rescue operations. The unit responds to search and rescue operations throughout northern Alabama, southern Tennessee, western Georgia, and more distant locations if requested and is not funded by any government agency at any level. Its funding is provided solely by fundraising activities, grants, and donations.
Recently, the unit responded to a callout in Jackson County, AL, and Doug was injured while searching for the patient, sustaining multiple fractures after falling 20 feet into a crevice. Doug is an independent contractor in the construction industry, and, unfortunately, the recovery time is affecting his livelihood. The added burden of medical costs has led the unit to reach out to you for help. The team has helped as much as they can and are asking for your support to help a fellow rescuer injured during a response. The goal is to raise $30,000 to subsidize his loss of income and assist with medical bills. Thank you for any support you can provide.
Respectfully,
Huntsville Cave Rescue Unit
