On January 2, 2024, the Naval Academy class of 2004, the U.S. Navy, and our country lost a hero, friend, and shipmate.
“Dorothy,” as he was known in the fleet, was a legendary fighter pilot, having completed multiple combat deployments aboard aircraft carriers. His skills as a pilot and leader were so sharp that he was not only selected to attend the prestigious Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN), but he was selected to become an elite TOPGUN instructor. Dorothy was awarded multiple achievement and commendation medals for his service, including being selected for the Michael Longardt Leadership award highlighting the best leader in the Atlantic Fleet. In April 2022, he assumed command of the VFA-34 “Blue Blasters.” In all, he accumulated over 3,700 flight hours and 675 carrier landings and completed over 80 combat missions. Our nation owes him a debt of gratitude for his service.
The class of 2004 is calling upon friends, family, and shipmates to help honor the life, service, and lasting legacy of CDR Morea by contributing to this memorial fund. All proceeds will go to a charity close to Doug's heart - a tribute to his selfless commitment to his fellow service members.
