Douglas Byrd High School - Indoor Track and Field

Hi, my name is Eric Winfrey, and I am one of the two coaches (Coach Robert Freeman) at Douglas Byrd High School (DBHS). I am a proud graduate of DBHS, and I am excited to be back as a Coach for DBHS T&F at the Eagle Nest. Coach Freeman has been at the helm at DBHS T&F for twenty-eight (28) years and won DBHS’s first State Championship in school history. Moreover, he has been a part of helping countless student-athletes attend college for T&F and/or ROTC since he has been coaching at DBHS. I appreciate DBHS for allowing me to bring my knowledge and skills to continue moving the school and our student-athletes forward.

As a first-year coach, I have noticed many obstacles in high school sports, which is one of the many reasons I decided to start a GoFundMe. We are raising money for this indoor season because our program and student-athletes deserve the best. In addition, specific items such as Team Apparel (hoodies, sweats, team gear for travel to meets) and Invitational Fees (entry fees, travel expenses, food, etc.) are vital to our success daily during the cold winter months, practices, and meets. Coach Freeman and I believe this assistance will help elevate our program to the next level and continue to create and hold the standard of excellence.
