Douglas Dupre

Thursday October 5th 2023 we lost a beautiful soul, dear friend, son, brother, uncle, and combat veteran Douglas Dupre. Doug was born February 28, 1983 in Baton Rouge, La to Tim and Celeste Dupre with two siblings Jamie Dupre and John Eric Dupre. Over the years in south Louisiana you would have to look high and low to find anyone who wasn’t drawn to Doug. Doug’s fashion sense may have been out of pocket but his heart was always in the right place. There wasn’t a person Doug wouldn’t go out of his way to help or just be there for. He was one of the kindest most caring people I ever had the pleasure to meet. Doug had a calling to do more for other people than for himself which is what led him to join the United States Army on September 11, 2006. Where Doug served with the best of the best in support of 7th and 10th Group Special Forces with more accommodation’s and awards than will fit here. Doug’s overseas deployments include Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 2 Campaign Stars and Iraq Campaign Medal with 3 Campaign Stars which in laymen terms means Doug went on a combat deployment 7 times in two different combat zones. Doug competed Airborne School, SERE school (survival evasion resistance and escape school), Hazmat Driver Instructor, Basic Leadership Course, Forklift Operator Course, Wheel Vehicle Recovery, Anti-Terror Offensive Basic, Combat Life Saver Course, and Advanced Leadership Course. These are all just bullet points that don’t begin to tell the whole story. I sincerely hope anyone who sees this adds their story’s with Doug during service or as civilians or friends and family. It goes without saying Doug was in some of the most austere places on the planet with the finest fighting force the world has ever known and those he served with have not and will not forget our friend and family member. As a combat veteran myself I can say we never have time to process the things we go through when we are going through them, it’s only after we come home do we have time to stop and let it all sink in. That fight is costing our friends and family more at home in a safe place than we lost in some of the most violent places on earth and today we lost another one who meant a whole lot to me and many others. I have been talking to a lot of the guys who served with Doug today and they asked about a Go Fund Me to help with expenses so I offered to write something for my friend to help the family. I know many who served with Doug would like to help out and will not be able to make the trip to Louisiana for the services, anything would be a help to Doug’s family in this difficult time. Anything above funeral expenses will be donated to Code Of Vets charity to help other vets in crisis and all funds and this account will be handled directly by Tim and Celeste Dupre on behalf of our friend and family Doug Dupre.
