Douglas Hogan Sr
Donation protected
Douglas Hogan Sr was born in August of 1959. He is a disabled Veteran who has raised seven boys, with me being the oldest. He has done everything in his life with his own two hands. Three months ago he had a cyst removed from his colon, and one week later he was put back into the hospital for Covid 19. At that time they found out that he had become septic due to his colon rupturing bringing back the infection and releasing toxins back into his body. After many weeks in the hospital, he was able to return home but lost over 110 lbs and was unable to walk or even stand. He started to feel better but then about a month ago while visiting with him, he got a very high fever so I took him back to the hospital where they said he had some kind of infection somewhere. He was there for four days and then sent back home. On the following Monday, he had a follow-up appointment and they found that the infection was back so they had to rush him to a larger hospital. There they found that his colon was still not healing. They then went in and disconnected his colon and gave him a colostomy bag. After three weeks there he is home again but is still unable to walk or stand. He has been sleeping in a recliner in his kitchen because he cannot get up the stairs to his bedroom. He has also not been able to bathe or shower because the bathroom downstairs only has a stand-up shower and his master bathroom with a tub is off of his bedroom upstairs. This brings me to why I am asking for help. Over the last three months, he has sold everything he owns including tractors, Harleys, and everything else he has to stay afloat. The only thing he has left is his house that he built with his own two hands after all of us kids grew up. I don't want to see him give up the last thing he has left so I am trying to raise enough money to have his staircase widened and a chair lift installed so that he can see his bed again, take a bath, and hopefully live out his days in his home. Thank you to everyone in advance for all of your help and support.
