Douglas & Meredith's Adoption Journey

Hi Friends, thanks for showing up here and embarking on this new journey with us!

We are the Pipers (Douglas & Meredith) and live in Greenville, SC. We have always had the desire to adopt and bring kids into our home. We have begun the adoption process to grow our family and have finalized our home study to adopt. While there are multiple ways to adopt, we felt that a domestic adoption was right for us at this time. We have completed our Home Study with NightLight Christian Adoptions. We are trying to self-match and then allow NightLight to help facilitate a designated adoption.

First and foremost we would love your prayers as we enter into this season, scripture says "You do not have, because you do not ask" (James 4:2). Let's Ask! Thank you for your prayers, we are encouraged to know how many people are praying for our future family. Second, you may or may not know that adoptions range anywhere from $40,000 to $70,000. One of the reasons we have chosen NightLight is that they are very clear about the financial side of the adoption process. Most of their adoptions end up around $45,000 - $50,000 on average. Another reason we choose NightLight is their care for their biological parents throughout the adoption process and afterward.

What is a self-match? Self-matching is a method of adoption when you connect directly with an expectant mother, instead of using an agency to match for you. If you know of someone in this situation please consider reaching out to us. Once connected, we will use NightLight to help facilitate the adoption process. NightLight also provides support to the birth parents as needed throughout the pregnancy, adoption, and beyond.

We have been saving for a few years and have about $15,000 set aside for adoption. That leaves us with around $35,000 left to invite our child into our home. While we have the means to financially support and care for our child once they're here, the reality is there is a substantial amount of money needed up front to bring our child home.
