Douglas needs emergency surgery from Hit and Run!

Familia,
Douglas was hit by a car early in January and was seen by MedVet at total of THREE times for scans, xrays and bloodwork. He was released to me each time saying there were no serious internal injuries, even after having bled from his rectum a week later. He was sent home to me for gastrointestinal issues. This weekend, after a day of vomiting, I take him to a vet here in LA to discover that he actually had a ruptured diaphragm, and his intestines are now pushing up and twisted in his chest cavity due to a hernia. He needs to have emergency surgery immediately and needs to be put on a ventilator. The LA vet called MedVet and asked why they did not do a chest x-ray, and they said they only focused on the abdominal area.
I am heartbroken and angry, but most importantly, I want my dog well. The low end of this is looking to be about $5,000 but is likely to reach $10,000 after hospitalization, meds, etc. . My 2nd mom and sister are supporting me as much as they can, but we all know this is a precarious time for such a financial strain. I do plan on taking legal action against MedVet for medical malpractice soon, however, Douglas' urgent care and surgery will be costly. Anything you can do to help is so needed.
Thank you!
