Expenses due to ALS for ⚽️ Coach: You Can Help

I am hoping to come together to cover some of the expenses for my dad, beloved Hastings retired teacher of 40 years and Soccer Coach "Legend" of 30 years... and my personal hero who unexpectedly was diagnosed with ALS of May 2021.

Expenses such as a handicap van that was just purchased, along with a renovated bathroom and shower that is wheelchair accessible, are just some of the major expenses that have gone along with this debilitating disease.

I'd like to take this opportunity to allow others to honor the outstanding service within the Hastings community here in a practical way, and in giving back, by honoring my mother, his amazing wife and now caretaker of 49 years.

Doug started the Boys AND Girls Soccer teams in Hastings, Michigan. He went to bat for the girls, myself included, so we would be recognized as a varsity sport, under Title IX, by petitioning and showing up to school board meetings in our orange YMCA jerseys for years.

We finally got our chance in 1995, my Sophomore year. I can honestly say my dad has been my hero as he pushed us and as we played with heart and soul, and we were winning. He made me so proud.

The boys had already been playing and winning for years at that time! He Truly has been an inspiration to many.....
