What happened?
On Saturday May 30th 2020, NCF Florida, a wholesale jewelry store specializing in sterling silver and stainless steel jewelry located in Downtown Miami was broken into and looted during the Miami protests. It is the proud achievement of two immigrants (my parents) who established the company in 1992 and have put in honest, hard work into building this business for the last 28 years.
How much are we asking for?
Although the damage to the store has not been fully assessed, we estimate it to be upwards of $100,000. Thousands of dollars worth of merchandise have been stolen or damaged. Other equipment essential for conducting business, including computers, monitors, and the CCTV system, were destroyed. The office was also vandalized and the glass windows and doors along the entrance to the store were shattered.
Since the inventory was not insured, all losses incurred will be dealt out of pocket by my parents. As a wholesale business, the business model relies on low margin, higher volume sales. Inventory represents the bulk of business assets. In other words, what was stolen are the assets acquired through hard work and from building the business from the ground up.
Thank you
We are raising funds to help them get back on their feet and restart the business. Any amount is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please share our story with your network. We will keep posting updates to this page.
In spite of our tragedy, we, the business owners and employees of NCF Florida, support the George Floyd protests. We also recognize that the vast majority of the George Floyd protests have been peaceful with an extremely urgent message that the nation must heed. As immigrants, as citizens of color, as Asians and Latinos, we call for unity and solidarity to end racial inequality and police brutality in America.
