Downtown-East Hamilton Mutual Aid Fundraiser

Downtown-East Hamilton Mutual Aid is a grassroots network of neighbours supporting each other during the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis. We believe we must care for each other and fight together to ensure that everyone has access to healthcare, housing, food, and other necessities. We run a small foodbank; deliver groceries, toiletries, and sanitation items; pick-up and deliver medical prescriptions;  and provide an ear for those who need someone to talk to in these trying times. In our first week, we made multiple deliveries every day, and provided basic necessities like food and toilet paper to those who needed it. Each day we receive more requests than the last, and we are working hard to make sure we are able to fulfill all of the requests we receive.

We are an all-volunteer project, have limited resources, and we need support in order to support others. With this in mind, we are seeking financial and material donations. We realize money is tight for many right now, however if you are able to make a financial donation any amount (however small) will be incredibly helpful and we will stretch each dollar. We are also seeking material donations of food, toiletries, and sanitation items. We can arrange a pick-up or we have a drop-off location, and we have a detailed safety protocol in place to deal with these interactions. We can’t change the fact that we are in the midst of a public crisis, but we can shape how it is dealt with, work to mitigate threats and its effects, and help as many people as possible to come out of this on the other side.
