Dozer is a 1 year and 8 month old French bulldog. He is the sweetest little man some of you may know him from TikTok as Dozerthefrenchie1. Dozer was just diagnosed with Pulmonic valvular stenosis (severe) defect in which the pulmonary valve (valve between the right heart and the lungs) does not develop normally. This defect causes an obstruction to blood flow out of the right side of his heart to the lungs which causes increased strain and workload leading to hypertrophy (thickening) of the right ventricle (main pump for the right side of the heart). Over time, the increased pressure generated by the right ventricle can cause a leak of blood through the tricuspid valve into the right atrium resulting in chamber enlargement. If the right chambers become dilated, this places patients at risk for right sided congestive heart failure. To prevent heart failure he needs a Balloon valvuloplasty to help his heart pump blood. (PBV) is a minimally invasive procedure in which a balloon catheter is passed across the pulmonic valve and inflated to separate the valves.
