Mental Health Awareness-Suicide Tragedy

July 29th 2023 my father succumbed to his mental health illness. In this tragedy he not only took his own life but the life of his wife whose sons, like we are my fathers sons, will never be the same. Our hearts are filled with sadness and guilt for this horrific event. Losing a father has been harder than I ever imagined and under this devastating circumstance, I am unsure where we go from here. We are still in shock, but this is something that has to be talked about. We are his sons, nothing will change that, and as disappointed of his actions as we are, we still love him. We always will hold love for him. We wish we could have helped him. He has left us with a mess to clean up and a town that will always know what he did and who we are.

Neither of us have much to begin with. We are raising money to try and pay off a car for my brother. I don’t know what else will come that he has left us with. We want to pay his storage unit to see if we can find and save any last happy memories we have of him. We want to ensure our mental health and make sure that we get the appropriate counseling we need to deal with the grief and this new chapter in our lives.

I don’t know if my brother will go back to school, I don’t know where we will move to, I don’t know what the future for me and my son holds, I don’t know these things. But I do know that any support we receive whether monetary or emotional, we will accept with love in our hearts and hope that those suffering with mental health issues get the help they need. We will never be scared to reach out for help and we wish all those suffering from this tragedy find the support they need. I am sorry. We are sorry. It is hard to be the villain’s sons. But we still love you dad.
