Teacher Financial Assistance - 4/27
Donation protected
On April 27th, teachers across Colorado will "Walkout to Rally for Public Education". We would LOVE to see 100% participation from our teachers!
Denver Public Schools has made April 27th an early dismissal day to allow teachers to attend the Rally. However, teachers must use personal leave in order to attend. Approximately 500 DPS teachers don't have any more personal leave available to use, and would have to take the half-day as unpaid time.
The "Denver Parents for Public Education" group has created this GoFundMe page to help minimize the financial burden for the 500 Denver Public School teachers that will be taking the time as unpaid. The average loss per teacher for the half-day would be approximately $100, which includes salary and benefits.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 for the 500 teachers that attend the 4/27 Rally unpaid, so that they can be reimbursed for their time.
- $100 donation covers 1 DPS teacher
- $500 donation covers 5 DPS teachers
- $1,000 donation covers 10 DPS teachers

We are very fortunate to have so many excellent public schools in Colorado, but many of our schools and teachers struggle to make ends meet due to a lack of funding and low teacher salaries. It's time that we put a high priority on education so that we can continue to attract and retain high quality educators to Colorado. Our teachers do so much to support our students, and now they need our support in return!
Thank you for supporting our teachers, and we hope to see you at the rally on April 27th!
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
- This fundraiser is for DPS (Denver Public School) teachers only. We'd love to cover all Colorado teachers, but that would be a difficult task to manage. We encourage other parent groups from other school districts to create similar fundraisers to support their teachers.
- The funds raised will only go to DPS teachers that will be attending the 4/27 rally unpaid.
- DPS teachers must apply for the funds no later than 7pm MT on Friday, May 18th. Visit this link to apply: https://goo.gl/forms/J35sb1pF6VxsIWrq1
- The DCTA (Denver Classroom Teachers Association) will confirm which teachers took the time off unpaid for the 4/27 rally before funds are distributed.
- Once the final application list is finalized, checks will be mailed to the teachers. We hope to have checks will be mailed by May 25, 2018.
- Any and all excess money raised with this GoFundMe page, will go towards a DPS educator scholarship for the 2018-19 school year.
- If we do not meet the $50,000 goal, the final amount will be equally divided by the number of applicants.
Scott Baldermann will be responsible for withdrawing the funds and distributing them to the teachers.
