Memorial campaign for Karina Yusim

Donation protected

It is with a heavy heart that I am reaching out to you to announce the passing of our beloved Karina Yusim. Being a true fighter and having battled cancer for two years, she succumbed to the illness on January 26th, 2021.

Karina was a loving wife, a devoted mother of two wonderful boys, ages 19 and 12, a supportive daughter and sister. She loved her family more than anything in the world. She wanted her children to get the best education they could to get a fair chance in life. She was extremely proud of her older son Michael getting accepted into prestigious schools all around the country including UC Berkeley, where he is now a freshman.

Karina was a unique person, a brilliant scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory. She worked on the development of Ebola, HIV, HCV, and recently on COVID vaccines. After her passing her legacy will continue and people’s lives will be saved.

Karina was generous, kindhearted; she selflessly helped many people get ahead in life.  Her smile, sense of humor, optimism, determination, and talent will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

This memorial campaign is established to help cover funeral and related expenses and to help Karina’s children during these difficult times.

According to GoFundMe policy we must specify here that donations will be withdrawn by Karina's husband - Alexandre Chigaev.
